In this concluding volume of Authentic Christianity, Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones shows the significance of the events recorded in Acts 8:1-35 for readers today. These sermons, preached between Oct. 1967 and Feb. 1968, are full of penetrating insights on such topics as man's need for the gospel, the work of the Spirit, the supernatural character of true Christianity, repentance and faith, the danger of spurious belief, and the very heart and centre of the gospel in the sufferings and death of Christ, as explained by Philip to the man of Ethiopia.Publisher Price:

LLOYD JONES (D. MARTYN). Authentic Christianity, Vol. 3 (Acts 5&6): Sermons on the Acts of the Apostles. Banner of Truth, 2003. Hardbound NEW (inc DJ) 18937 343pp
Why should a modern reader consider the early chapters of the Acts of the Apostles? In order, says Dr. Lloyd-Jones, to discover what the Christian church is, what her message is, and what she is meant to do in this world. In this volume, the third in the present series intended to bring together much of Dr. Lloyd-Jones evangelistic preaching on Acts, the main incidents in Acts 5:17-6:8 are reviewed and their lessons applied to the mind, heart and conscience of the reader. The arrest and miraculous release of the apostles, their preaching before the council, the advice of Gamaliel, the implications of the problem described in Acts 6:1, and the emergence and testimony of Stephen are considered in turn. Dr Lloyd-Jones, burning desire throughout is that his hearers and readers should know the glory and power of the Lord, as he was preached by the early church. (Reformers) Price:

D. MARTYN LLOYD-JONES. Born of God: Sermons from John, Chapter One. Edinburgh, Scotland: Banner of Truth, 2011. 1848711255 / 9781848711259 Hardcover NEW (inc DJ) 76872 8.6 x 5.5 x 1.4 inches479pp
In his first sermon in his series on the opening chapters of the Gospel of John, begun in October 1962, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones made the arresting remark: Do you know what is the matter with us? I will tell you. We, none of us, really believe in the Lord Jesus Christ! The trouble with all of us is that we do not know enough about him. So John says: The thing you need above everything is to be brought to this knowledge of him - who he is, what he has done, and what he has made possible for us.The preacher was convinced that Christians are too often unhappy and uncertain - and, as a result, fail to give a true and accurate impression of Christianity to those around them - because they are suffering from ignorance. Yet he insisted strongly that bare knowledge is not enough. What is needed is the life that comes from believing in Christ rightly (John 20:31). We must start with the doctrine, and out of that will come the life, the experience, everything we need. This is part of the last great Lloyd-Jones Sunday-morning series at Westminster Chapel. In these 32 powerful sermons, he concentrates on two main areas which feature prominently in John chapter 1: law and grace and their respective roles (from verse 17); and the assurance of salvation (from verses 12-13). The central focus in all the sermons is the life that flows from the Lord Jesus Christ, received by faith, the life that characterizes those who are born of God - those who are God's children by faith in his beloved Son.
