William Henry Bartlett (1809- 1854), was a topographical artist who was first noticed when he made sketches for the architect John Britton; such early works were published in the latter's Cathedral Antiquities of Britain, 1814-32. Bartless soon after made an extended tour of Europe and the Near East, the result of which was a series of very popular books on travel, filled with the artist's graphic opera. Bartlett died on a homebound voyage between Malta and Marseilles and was buried at sea.(Quoted in review / description by KROWN & SPELLMAN)
